GABRIEL “BUDDY” GENGLER
Over 18 years of military and corporate leadership experience
Buddy founded Mavec Advisors, LLC in 2011 as a diversified consultancy for small-to-medium sized businesses. Mavec was certified by New York State as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business (SDVOB) in 2016 and by the Department of Veterans Affairs (federal) as an SDVOSB in 2017.
Previously, Buddy was Managing Director at MidMarket Capital Partners, a $250 million middle market investment strategy where he led deal sourcing, due diligence and underwriting in senior secured, subordinated and uni-tranche loans with equity-linked securities and a debt strategy with assets greater than $1.2 billion (Harch Capital Management – HCM).
Prior to joining (HCM), Buddy served as a senior consultant at Ernst & Young focusing on financial and operational audits, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and business process review across multiple industries for both public and private companies.
Buddy served as a rocket artillery platoon leader, executive officer, and commander in the US Army having executed raids, patrols, and infrastructure security for the Operation Iraqi Freedom I (2003-2004). Buddy was awarded the Bronze Star for combat bravery and service in Iraq where he suffered a traumatic lower leg injury.
Buddy possesses a BS in Management from the United States Military Academy at West Point and an MBA from Touro University International; While at West Point, Buddy was a two-sport Division I athlete at Army (baseball and soccer). He serves on the board of the Veterans Golfers Association (VGA) and the Thomas Cutinella Memorial Foundation.
Mark Paquette joined Mavec Advisors as a Managing Director in February of 2018 after almost 15 years within the insurance and risk advisory industry. He brings a deep and wide-ranging background of sales, marketing, business development, client service, consulting, and leadership experience
During his tenure in the insurance sector, Mark was instrumental in driving consistent revenue growth within the employee benefit divisions of two top-10 publicly traded insurance companies and the 9th largest privately-owned insurance and risk consulting firm in the US. His experience with designing and developing both company-sponsored employee benefit programs and compensation plans for small, middle, and large market companies is a critical core competency for the human capital aspect of Mavec’s organic and acquisition growth strategy.
During Mark’s career in business development and consulting, he concentrated his practice on private equity transactional risk and M&A due diligence where he focused on cost containment of portfolio-company insurance programs during the life of the investment. Upon joining Mavec Advisors, Mark leveraged his consulting and marketing experience to develop the Mavec Construction division strategy as well as the development of a new Commercial Construction division of one of Mavec’s largest consulting mandate clients.
Mark possesses a BS in Business Administration and Marketing from Marist College and an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Kenan-Flagler Business School; While at Marist, Mark was a 1st Team All-Conference Division I Lacrosse player and team captain.
